Rapid Response and Protection
- Provide coordinated emergency support to journalists facing immediate threats, including legal defense, financial assistance, temporary relocation, and psychosocial services.
- Establish a rapid response network that enables timely interventions when journalists are arrested, harassed, or attacked.
- Collaborate with partners to develop safety protocols and emergency hotlines for journalists in distress.
Monitoring and Documentation
- Monitor, document, analyze, and report violations against journalists including arrests, detentions, abductions, censorship, and online harassment.
- Publish periodic safety reports to create evidence-based advocacy tools.
- Share data with stakeholders to raise awareness and push for accountability at all levels.
Capacity-Building and Training
- Organize training on physical safety, digital security, legal rights, and ethical journalism practices.
- Build resilience among journalists to manage risks in conflict-sensitive and high-threat environments.
- Facilitate peer-to-peer learning and mentoring between journalists from different associations and regions.
Gender-Sensitive Interventions
- Develop tailored programs to protect women journalists from technology-facilitated gender-based violence and workplace harassment.
- Advocate for inclusive policies that ensure equal participation of women in media leadership.
- Create safe spaces for women journalists to share experiences, access resources, and build solidarity networks.
Solidarity and Networking
- Unite diverse journalists’ associations to coordinate joint actions and share resources.
- Strengthen regional and national partnerships to collectively address threats against media professionals.
- Foster a culture of solidarity, ensuring no journalist faces threats in isolation.
